Applesauce

Print Recipe
What could be simpler than applesauce?  You would think this is easy, but many recipes make it complicated, adding water, lemon, white and brown sugar, and/or salt.  This recipe is very basic, but very yummy!

Ingredients

  • 4 apples - I prefer Macintosh, but you can choose your favourite cooking apple
  • 1 1/2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon - or to taste

Instructions

  • Peel and core the apples and then cut into bite-sized pieces. Place in medium saucepan. Sprinkle with cinnamon (to taste - I like a fair amount of cinnamon). Add the brown sugar and stir.

  • Put on a burner on simmer, cover and cook for 20-30 minutes (depending on the apples) stirring every five minutes or so until the apples are soft and can be broken down with a fork.
