Ingredients

  • 4 cups blueberries - farmed or wild or fresh or frozen or a combination
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp grated lemon rind
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup butter - soft
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup flour

Optional

  • 1/3 cup almonds - chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350F (175C)
  • Mix the berries, lemon rind, cinnamon, and one tablespoon of flour together in a bowl. Put this mixture in a greased 8" square Pyrex glass baking dish. Drizzle the maple syrup over the berry mixture.
  • Mix the soften butter, flour, and brown sugar together until crumbly. Gently add the chopped almonds, if you're using them. Spread this mixture evenly over the berry mixture.

  • Bake about 40 minutes, until the topping is golden and the berry mixture is bubbly. Serve warm or cold, with or without ice cream.
